Key Resources

ROUND 1: IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR 2 PILOT EPISODES
Grants, charitable donations, volunteers, owner investments, and loans

Total: $184,500

Insurance ($500)
Before anything else it is essential to have the proper insurance in place. This is the quote we received from Hanover Insurance

Specialized equipment ($25,000)
The right equipment is important in order to submit these films to festivals and eventually convince a distributor to purchase the series. From the start we need equipment that will allow us to have consistent and top-notch production quality.

Grant writer ($30,000 for 6 months)
An important source of funds will be grants. We have a relationship with Magic Lamp Consulting who suggested at least 6 months lead time to refine our message and apply to numerous grants before we start seeing the return on investment.

Fundraising consultant ($30,000)
I do not personally have experience with fundraising. It’s a whole different beast than creating films. Bringing someone onto the team who has knowledge of how to create and implement an effective fundraising strategy is going to be vital for the ongoing success of the project. $30,000 likely won’t cover the entire span of the project but it will be a sufficient amount to get started.

Travel ($9,000)
Our first pilot episode will be a collaborative effort filmed in Ohio (A Special Wish, Dayton) and Florida (Give Kids The World Village). The second episode will be in the New England area (Dream Factory). There is a significant cost of travel because we will have three production staff flying with approximately 10 bags of equipment for at least two trips per episode.

Production Staff ($90,000)
This number may have some flexibility if we can find volunteers for some roles but our goal is always to pay our staff their value.

ROUND 2: LONG-TERM NEEDS
Grants, charitable donations, volunteers, sponsorships

Total: $2.3MM

Custom songs & editing
We partnered with a wish recipient who is a singer/songwriter. He met John Mayer for his wish and will be writing custom songs for each episode that speaks to their story.

Film festival fees
Applying to festivals is important for building authority through laurels, increasing reach, and building connections with distributors.

Marketing & impact producer
Social media, advertisements, and publicity will be important for building and engaging our audience. An impact producer will be focused on making connections to hospitals, events, and connections to host screenings of the films after post-production. Screenings may be before or after public release of the film.

Profit to Wish Partners
If we are able to raise the target amount, approximately $0.5MM will be distributed between our Wish Partners.

Private premiere
We would like to have an in-person screening for all partners, families, sponsors, board members, and crew to join in celebrating the public release of the completed Docuseries.

Additional Benefits

OTHER THINGS FUNDING WILL ENABLE

Employment & advocacy opportunities for families
Whenever possible we would like to hire parents and guardians who are impacted by pediatric chronic illness. Many families feel a huge financial strain from medical bills and loss of work. Offering employment, especially through social media outreach, provides an opportunity for them to work flexible hours. Screenings with Q&A’s that include our casted families will provide a powerful platform for advocacy of their child’s disease.

Support wish organizations
As we stated, our ultimate goal is to drive more referrals to wish organizations while also increasing donor and volunteer resources.

Licenses for wish partners
Participating wish organizations will receive licenses for unlimited use of the trailers and a single-use event license for the full film at no cost.

Preserve memories for participating families
Although this is at the bottom of the list it is not the least important. Families who participate in the series will have their memories of this impactful time in their lives preserved forever, so they can look back and remember what it felt like to be fully present in the joy of their time together as a family .
